i'm lovin it. . .crowing like a rooster?!
unless you were catching a ride on the mars rover you've no doubt heard mcdonald's new ad slogan. its inspired some backlash, some people are definitely "hatin' it!"

as one pop cultural observer put it:

"i'm lovin' it is a key part of mcdonald's business strategy to connect with customers in highly relevant, culturally significant ways around the world."

translation: the focus groups they used happen to listen to rap and hip-hop. in an effort to show that mcdonald's is "down" with their customers, they bought off a few rap artists to pose with their dumbass mascot.

everything about the new campaign is engineered to target "the culture of today's consumer." apparently the culture of today's consumer doesn't mind the implied discrimination with the use of specific grammar and punctuation used in the new slogan. after all, cheapened cultural identity is a small price to pay for discounts on big mac value meals.

where else but in politics can you see a man and a political campaign implode at the same time? file dean's post caucus speech like the "michael dukakis in a tank" under: "things NOT to do if you're runing for president".

some of the metaphorical descriptions of the speech: "like a squirrel on speed. . .a crystal meth addict imitating don king at a boxing weigh in."

check out some other related articles from foxnews, sanfrangate, and msnbc.

in dean's limited defense, politicos are caught btw a rock and a hard place. there is a line you have to walk between showing passion and energy and showing you can control your emotions. dean jumped way over the passion/energy line on monday night. from a political standpoint i don't think its survivable. just cue up a tape of that speech and he'd lose in vermont.

well the political season has officially kicked off today with the iowa caucus. i've had the pleasure of going through the state of iowa this year for a wedding. there is even a town there named after little ol' me. what better way to reflect on the upcoming 2004 election than to think back to the whole fun debacle that was the 2000 electon -- and what better way than the homespun metaphorical nonsense of dan rather? for those non-political junkies who don't stay up late to watch election returns have a listen to what you've been missing.

i'm back!!! much longer break than i thought. but after the exam season, travel and the holidays i didn't really feel like doing a lot of blogging. but my juices are now recharged and there's lot to blog about.

the holidays were good -- hung out with my extended family and friends. santa got me some clothes, some very cool dvds (pulp fiction, good the bad and the ugly), some cds (adding to my stones' collection), but best of all a new digital camera (yes i know it's OUR camera honey!) and a new football coach!! welcome back joe gibbs, its been 11 years since he left but those redskin teams are fresh in my sunday memories.

well, that's it for now more blogs and site updates on the way.
